Master agreements A contract between the employer and the exclusive bargaining representative. For collective bargaining, the employer is represented by the governor or the governor's designee. The LRO will negotiate contracts with each union that represents more than 500 employees. Curb Cut Also called a curb ramp, it is a depression built into the curb of a sidewalk to permit passage by a wheelchair. Human resource management system (HRMS) An integrated software application that supports a variety of human resource functions, including benefits, payroll, recruiting and training, performance analysis, and provides data review and reporting tools. Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) A comprehensive civil rights law which makes it unlawful to discriminate in private sector employment against a qualified individual with a disability. Racial Profiling Wrongful and hurtful judgments about an individual or group based solely on their ethnicity or color of their skin; actions based on racial prejudice. Full Time Employment Defined by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics as employment of 35 hours or more in a week. Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) A variety of procedures for the resolution of disputes. Each ADR procedure is a fair and efficient alternative to court adjudication that must be entered into voluntarily by all parties. Readily Achievable Easily accomplishable and able to be carried out without much difficulty or expense. In determining whether an action is readily achievable, factors to be considered include nature and cost of the action, overall financial resources and the effect on expenses and resources, legitimate safety requirements, impact on the operation of a site and, if applicable, overall financial resources, size and type of operation of any parent corporation or entity. Job Coach A person hired by the placement agency or provided through the employer to furnish specialized on-site training to assist an employee with a disability in learning and performing a job and adjusting to the work environment.
